How to obtain a very dark set of extensions ? Tips & tricks for a darker lash set

Many of you want to get darker results in your eyelash sets. It is not always easy and not always possible on everyone. Through this blog article I'll review several elements that can help you obtain more intense lash sets while respecting the natural lash.

After having already addressed this subject in a youtube video (that I will post to you down below), I will explain several elements that you can put in place in your technique to obtain more intense renderings in your lash sets while preserving your client's natural lash (which must remain your # 1 goal as a good #LASHARCHITECT).

This article will be divided into different parts, each part being an element that you can work on to achieve more or less darkness according to your desires.

Fan opening

Indeed, the openness of your fan plays one of the most important roles in the final rendering of your set in terms of darkness.

A fan is the "bouquet" formed by several eyelash extensions which will be more or less spaced. The larger the space between each eyelash, the more airy and therefore natural the result of the pose will be. On the contrary, the more your russian volume fan is closed, the more it will darken your pose.

There are 3 different types of opening:

  • Narrow fan
  • Normal range (normal)
  • Wide fan

The type of opening to be favored to obtain an intense set are the narrow and the normal.

One of the current problems is that we hear so much on all platforms that it is important to open up your fan that consequently many lash artists end up opening it too much. A fan that is too open tends to create irregularity in the final rendering of the set and above all, the pose lacks intensity and depth.

Please note that obviously when I talk about a more closed fan, I mean a fan that remains open and symmetrical in spite of everything! It's not about posing fans all closed, you might just make a one by one set in this case.

The type of eyelash extensions you are working with

The darkness of the set actually depends on the type of extension used.

  • The material: in order to have more darkness, it is preferable to favor a FAUX MINK extension (synthetic mink) because the extension becomes thinner less quickly in the length which means that the final rendering can be blacker more easily.
  • The blackness of the extension fiber itself: some extensions have blue or green reflections. This will go against your "black" rendering. It is necessary to favor a quality eyelash extension without color reflection to obtain the most intense result possible. Our sophisticated 2.0 eyelash extensions have a beautiful blackness and no reflection.
  • The quality of the extensions: quality eyelash extensions will make your daily work easier. This will allow you to gain speed and have more time to devote to other details in order to obtain a voluminous pose with a very black rendering.
  • The thickness of the eyelash extension used: in salon application, I only use 0.05 and 0.07. I advise you to favor 0.07 as soon as the client's eyelash allows it. This thickness of the extension will allow you to obtain a blacker rendering more quickly.
  • The length used: in russian volume, the more length you put, the less intensity you will have. If your goal is to obtain a Russian volume pose with a maximum of darkness, you should favor very short extensions. Sometimes it is even possible to apply eyelash extensions shorter than the client's natural lash.

Working on the different eyelash levels

Many eyelash technicians overlook this element. Indeed, the work of the floors will allow you to increase the intensity of your pose. Several elements must be taken into account in the work of the floors:

  • The work of the lowest row: too often forgotten, the row closest to your client's patch is the row that must be filled in priority or at least that must not be forgotten! Indeed, it is the row that brings all the finish to the pose and polishes the final darkness of your pose.
  • The work of the layers: working with different lengths and curves according to the layers of eyelashes on which you are will bring a lot of depth and density to the pose. Therefore it will be easier to achieve an intense russian volume set.

As you probably understood, several different elements can be put in place to play with the darkness and the intensity of your set.
